Who are some of your favorite musical families?
What musical family is the most talented?

I'm loving the Neville family right now!

Im going with the Manson family. Not all of them knew how
to play an instrument, but they could really slay a crowd.
They had some really killer beats too.

Excellent pick. I am an early Clannad lover, but Magical Ring gets still gets plays. Oh, The Last Rose of Summer.

Saw them in NY in the late 70s, fantastic evening, and I have two albums. Good pick.

I'll nominate Doc & Merle Watson. Doc's in a class by himself. This will make you a believer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH9uEj_yMKI

The McGarrigle Sisters as an honorable mention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XMpTlGVjbM

Hard to argue against the Carter Family (including in-laws over time).

The Staples are a pretty fine family as well.

Michael and Janet and a few of their brothers (no sisters, sorry Latoya) were talented regardless of what you think of their music. Besides Janet's wardrobe malfunctions were far more interesting than Bob's.

Jimmy, Stevie Ray and Sarah Vaughn. Very talented even if Sarah had troubles spelling her last name.

I can't argue with the Jacksons or the Vaughans

However, they got nothin' on the Partridge Family.

Pardon me, by the time I'd assembled this lot both families had been given a mention. Anyway, here goes:

There's the McGarrigle/Wainwright family:

The Waterson Carthy family go back a long way; when they play together nowadays it's husband Martin Carthy, wife Norma Waterson and daughter Eliza.

In various combos, from different periods:

Some great picks. I'll go w/ the Cox family in the second tier.

http://tinyurl.com/coe6g4

T-Bone Burnett on the slightly saucy intro.

They did a great album w/ Alison Krauss of P & W music.

What? No love for the Osmond's?

C'mon, what would the 70's have been without them?

Oh, yeah, bearable.

As you were.

Seriously, I'd throw in the Everly Brothers for an honorable mention, if nothing else.
